He is the founder, CEO, and Chief Engineer at SpaceX. He is the CEO and Product Architect of Tesla, Inc. He is the founder of The Boring Company. He co-founded the software company Zip2 and co-founded the online bank X.com, which later merged with Compaq to create PayPal. He is one of the most talked about entrepreneurs with a net worth of $265 billion as of May 2022. Love him or hate him, it is undeniable that Elon Musk has made a huge impact on the world around us.
Many people believe that, because he was born into a wealthy family, Musk should not be credited for his wealth. However, his ambition throughout his life shows that he wasn’t simply handed a silver platter and sat around with it – he did something with it. At 10 years old, he became interested in computing and video games. By age 12, Musk had created a video game which he called Blastar and sold it for $500.
Extremely business-minded, he has founded, co-founded, and been involved in over a dozen business projects and nonprofits. It is his sharp mind that has allowed him to take the fortune that he began with and turn himself into the wealthiest person in the world. He has inserted himself into quite a few humanitarian issues, including being the president of the Musk Foundation. When Russia invaded Ukraine, Musk sent private funding to Ukraine to maintain internet access and communication through the country. Additionally, in 2018, he arranged to send a rescue team to assist in saving a group of children who were trapped in a flooded cave in Thailand. Because of this, Musk received an honor from the King of Thailand for his efforts in the rescue.
However, all of this philanthropy does not cancel out the rumors of the alleged toxicity of Elon Musk. Many employees have come forward stating that Musk tends to go on “wild firing rampages” and berates his workers. He has also been heavily scrutinized because of controversial statements and spreading misinformation about COVID-19.
No matter what your opinion is on Elon Musk, it’s apparent that he is an ambitious man and won’t let anyone or anything get in his way. That’s the only way that anyone could come out as far ahead as he has – for better or for worse.
